Air-flow Damper for 3D printer (or anything else)

thingiverse

I designed a damper to minimize worries about breathing molten plastic fumes while 3D printing, using an air dryer hose to vent fumes outside through a window. After assembly, you'll have a fully automated airflow damper with easy integration to Octopi via MQTT, featuring manual control via push button as well. The design is based on a simpler earlier version that was directly connected to my Octopi's GPIOs and I decided it was too cumbersome. Besides the printed parts, I used these affordable components: stepper motor with driver (28BYJ-48 5V DC), push button, RGB LED, and Wemos D1 mini. The code for the Wemos can be found here: https://github.com/tal2420/mqttDamper I will add more details about assembly and Octopi configuration in the future.
