<p> </p> <h2>Air filter for 3d printer under 20€ cheap & effective HEPA filtration</h2> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Update: 13.09.21</span></p> <p>Because many people use the air purifier for soldering, I have designed an additional attachment so that there is a sufficiently air flow in front of the filter. It is best to use 2 air filters for this application. You have to mirror one of the two attachments in your slicer.</p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">New version</span>: the new version can be printed completely without support. The bridging layer can be pierced very easily with a craft scalpel. I also added the basket for Active Carbon to completely eliminate the smell & filter out even the smallest particles in this second stage filter. This made a huge difference I highly recommend this update!</p> <p><strong>My goal</strong> was to build an air filter system for my 3d printers that is cheap and effective. and that is compact enough to fit into any 3d printer housing. the system has a <span style="text-decoration: underline;">diameter of 120mm</span> and can therefore be placed very well in one of the rear corners. I found some fans that generate enough pressure to transport the air even through the close-meshed hepa filter.</p> <p>A brief impression of the filter while printing<em>:</em> <a href="https://youtu.be/zFHzcrjyntg" rel="nofollow">https://youtu.be/zFHzcrjynt </a><em>(the loud fan noise comes from the 3d printer the air filter itself is very quiet)</em></p> <p>The socket for the 5.5 x 2.1mm plug is now located in the base.</p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">I first bought a 5V fan with a USB connection. Unfortunately, these were too weak</span>. The new 12V 80mm fan generates very good negative pressure and is extremely quiet at the same time. In the future, i will design a small basket that can be placed in the hepa filter and that can be filled with <span style="color: #3366ff;">activated carbon</span>. this should achieve an even better filtering result.</p> <p>The filter is specially designed for fdm printers.
