The Toshiba TLP-T60M is a respectable video projector boasting a native resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. I successfully run my HD (1980 x 1080) laptop in the 1440 x 1050 mode, achieving excellent coverage and clarity.\r\n\r\nReplacement bulbs are reasonably priced at under US$70 each on eBay, but they do not come with a vital disposable filter. Toshiba also does not offer this filter as a standalone item; I'm informed it only comes with an original bulb from Toshiba, although I have my doubts about such claims.\r\n\r\nThis is the frame for the filter. You'll need to get creative in finding, cutting, and gluing in filter media made of cloth or foam with similar characteristics. However, now you have a frame to work with. Don't get too worked up over the filter media - the foam Toshiba uses is extremely difficult to find, and while nice, it degrades and falls apart after just a few hundred hours. The fabric I used was a leftover scrap of speaker cloth purchased from Joanns Fabrics. I've often seen fabric in packing materials that would do equally well; you're looking for a tight weave with minimal shedding.\r\n\r\nNote:\r\n\r\nThis is an excellent part to have printed by a service if you don't own your own 3D printer. I simply uploaded the STL file to an online printing service providing instant quotes, and it came back at under US$14 for one piece, dropping to about US$4 per piece if you need to buy ten of them at once. PLA is sufficient because this doesn't get hot, but ABS is even better, although more of a hassle to print with.\r\n\r\nBackground: \r\n\r\nMy first TLP-T60M came to me for free, but broken with a bad solder joint on a fan connector that was damaged during travel. The filter was missing, and I improvised by taping fabric to the outside. The projector worked so well that I bought a second identical unit on eBay at an incredibly low price. It was a gamble on bulb life, and I didn't know until it arrived if it had a filter and how much time was left on the bulb. Fortunately, it turned out to be a great deal with more than 75% of bulb life remaining and an original filter in place. This gave me a sample I could measure with dial calipers, which is why this now exists on Thingiverse. Now I have two projectors, both equipped with filters.\r\n\r\nThe nice thing about a 3D printed replacement filter is its ability to be cleaned. The foam Toshiba chose is too brittle to handle cleaning or washing. While the fabric I selected may not be as restrictive, it holds up better to cleaning.\r\n\r\nBTW - This fits perfectly and clicks in just like the original part! I used a thin black cloth and pressed it into the recess of the frame after painting the recessed edges with clear silicone caulk. The silicone got into the weave of the fabric to hold it tight after it set up, and now it lives and works flawlessly in my TLP-T60M.
