Air Conditioner Run Cap Capacitor Holder
thingiverse
Well, my Air conditioning unit's Run Capacitor had given up the ghost, and to make matters worse, the replacement was a different diameter than the original, so I knew I'd have to find a new way to secure it. Of course, they no longer include a clamp with the replacement capacitor, just a tie wrap holder that cost more than the capacitor itself. Since I had several other projects lined up where I needed to strap down a capacitor, I decided to design one myself. The design is tailored for a 55mm diameter cap (I made it slightly larger at 57mm) and measures 90mm in length. It features two #8 sheet metal screws to hold the capacitor firmly in place, along with recesses for both the screw head and a small area on the back where the metal can deform when tightened. Simply slide three tie wraps into position before mounting it, and you're good to go. This design would be perfect for audiophiles who install massive sub-woofers in their cars and need a secure way to hold their monster caps in place. If you require a larger capacitor holder, just send me the diameter and length of your cap, and I'll create one specifically for you.
