The UK's Arts and Humanities Research Council's iconic emblem, instantly recognizable to anyone who's been involved in academia for even a little while, features six concentric circles with an octopus-like creature rising out of its center, radiating eight rays that extend into the distance like tiny solar flares. This peculiar creature appears to be grasping or being swallowed by a dark mass. In between each circle are small geometric patterns made up of curved lines, resembling stylized floral arrangements but with a clear mechanistic edge to them - giving the impression of being man-made.
