Agujas de Reloj CUCU o CUCO (Cuckoo Clock's hands)
thingiverse
This is the first design I decide to publish, and it's because I think it shows one of the best virtues of 3D printing technology, with a small object that, by its history, has enormous value. It's about a spare needle game from the classic Cuckoo Clock. In Argentina, it's very well-known and something quite common to find in our grandparents' houses. These clocks were typically bought during trips to Germany, especially in the Black Forest area where there are huge examples of these clocks (they can reach 15 meters high and weigh over 6 tons). This tradition probably came to Argentina after World War II, but I couldn't justify it. But I can say that it's a very well-known object here, even with a giant one in the city of Carlos Paz (Cordoba province). The story is that my grandmother, who is over 90 years old, still has one and is very apprehensive about it. Unfortunately, the original needles broke and she took it to a clockmaker (who wasn't very good) to repair it. Not only did he make the hour hand needle useless by making it loose, but he also replaced the minute hand with a modern minimalist design that's clumsy and completely out of place (you can see in the photo I used as reference). I'm sorry not to have a photo of how the clock looked after it came back from the clockmaker, it was sad to see.
