Aglet 2.0
grabcad
In Brandon Schein's extreme redesign project at Bergen County Academies, under Mr. Defalco's guidance, the focus was on enhancing the common aglet found at your shoelace's end. Aglets typically have a cylindrical shape, serving their purpose of preventing laces from fraying and assisting in tying shoes. However, this design proposes an improvement to address an everyday inconvenience: untied shoes. The suggestion is to widen the aglet's end, which will use the lace it slips through to prevent falling. This allows for quick adjustments and tightening without retying. Additionally, the design maintains the aglet's ease of use while offering a stylish look, especially if made from lightweight metal with a metallic finish. The dimensions are approximately .69 inches tall and .53 inches long at its base.
