The digital prototype "Whisper Down The Lane" was spearheaded by Bronwyn Holloway-Smith in tandem with The Obstinate Object: Contemporary New Zealand Sculpture at City Gallery Wellington, New Zealand, running from 24 February through 10 June 2012. As part of this collaborative effort, designers Ant Pelosi and Nick Graham worked alongside Holloway-Smith to create digital 3D models of select works featured in The Obstinate Object. These 3D designs were released for free download on Thingiverse under the terms of a Creative Commons BY-SA-NC License. A parallel production route made each physical work available through a manufacturer-on-demand system based in New Zealand, where Open Source RepRap 3D printers manufactured these items, assisted by Vik Olliver. Fans can pre-order exclusive prints from the project's webpage at bronwyn.co.nz/projects/whisper-down-the-lane, with plans to initiate with one model and progressively add new designs over time as each new work is finalized and launched. Followers of Bronwyn Holloway-Smith can keep informed about forthcoming releases by signing up for her Twitter updates @hollowaysmith or joining her mailing list at bronwyn.co.nz/contact/. The license governing this 3D prototype ensures it remains free to attribute, non-commercial, and freely distributable under the Attribution - Non-Commercial - Share Alike license terms.
