African Tribal Mask
thingiverse
On July 4th, 2012, I visited my family's cabin in Northern Michigan and decided to scan items from my childhood. One of the items was a tribal African mask that used to scare me as a child when my brother chased me around the cabin with it. After learning it was harmless, I grew to love the mask and wanted to replicate it for my own home. I used 123D Catch for model construction and Netfabb for cleanup. The scan came out perfect, making cleanup easy. I shared all the photos, the .3dp file from 123D Catch, and a scaled .stl file. The mask is rotated at a 45-degree angle to optimize print volume. For printing, I used a layer height of .2, an acceleration of 150mm/s, 10% infill, one shell, and a build platform temperature of 110C for better adhesion on long, skinny objects.
