This collection comprises 10 African animal models, suitable for games, education, and visualization purposes. Each model is characterized by clean topology with minimal N-gons, mainly quads, and a few triangles. The UV mapping has been executed without overlapping, and the models are fully textured. They were built in Maya and rendered using 3ds Max's default Scanline renderer, with the render scene provided. Formats included for each model separately and all together are Maya 7 (.ma, .mb), OBJ (.obj with .mtl), 3ds Max 2009 (.max), and Autodesk FBX (.fbx). FBX and OBJ formats are directly exported from Maya. The total number of polygons is 7842 quads/15466 triangles, with a vertex count of 7822. Features and polygon counts for each animal include: Cheetah (902 quads/1786 triangles; 929 vertices), Elephant (550 quads/1062 triangles; 543 vertices), Thomson's Gazelle (974 quads/1906 triangles; 961 vertices), Giraffe (1246 quads/2480 triangles; 1244 vertices), Hippopotamus (606 quads/1180 triangles; 594 vertices), Hyena (720 quads/1426 triangles; 714 vertices), Lion (673 quads/1326 triangles; 677 vertices), Ostrich (534 quads/1058 triangles; 531 vertices), Rhinoceros (626 quads/1236 triangles; 622 vertices), and Zebra (1011 quads/2006 triangles; 1007 vertices). Each model has a single 1024x1024 pixels texture map in .psd and .jpg formats, which are included in the animals_textures.zip file. The package also provides ten 1024x1024 .jpg diffuse (color) maps and ten 1024x1024 .psd diffuse (color) maps with layers.
