Afnet Crown B (khat)
sketchfab
The khat or afnet headdress is intricately linked to the nemes, complementing its presence in funerary contexts. These two distinctive kerchiefs often appear together on object friezes as well as on the statues guarding the entrances to royal tombs from the New Kingdom era. Fragments of the khat were discovered on King Tut's mummy, indicating its significance in ancient Egyptian culture. Its prominent representation is believed to convey a powerful symbolism of renewal and rejuvenation, associated with the nocturnal aspect of the solar cycle, mirroring the solar symbolism of the nemes. Like the latter, it is frequently used in depictions of the royal ka.
