Afnet Crown A (khat)
sketchfab
The khat or afnet headdress closely complements the nemes, suggesting a connection between these two pieces. Typically seen together in object friezes as well as on statues guarding burial chambers entrances, they evoke an image of regal authority. Fragments of the khat were discovered on King Tut's mummy, pointing to its significance in funerary rituals. Its dominant appearance in such contexts has been interpreted as a powerful symbol of rejuvenation, with the khat seemingly representing the nocturnal aspect of the solar cycle. Like the nemes, it is often used to depict the royal ka.
