Aether Riveter
thingiverse
Design: Inspired by "Aether riveter" concept art by Cynthia Sheppard, this rotary tool breaks away from traditional pneumatic pressure methods, using its spinning head to drill into metal with precision. "Shine bright, bolts tight," and keep those pesky gremlins out of your aether! This handheld version is designed for Renegade inventors, modified for greater durability, hand size, and battery life. The back features a mounting area for an aether storage canister. Spinning head securely fastens rivets in place - don't let those gremlins eat into your aether supply. Making it: Print the parts with support, flat sides down. I used ABS filament at 10% infill (warning: remove support material carefully on the filigree surrounding the tube since filigree is delicate). Choose your preferred smoothing method to smooth out the surface. Paint Blue polycarbonate tube (Tap Plastics) serves as a sturdy base for this device. Assemble screw parts using 4-40 screws and securing nuts. Optional section for lights and motion: 6V DC motor, 6V battery holder, SPDT switch, LED string - these components come together to bring the tool to life. Screw the switch into the slot on the front handle, place batteries into the hollow part of the front handle, secure motor to motor mount, glue front spinner into the red motor tip, solder wires to motor. Wrap string of lights in bubble wrap or your preferred light diffusing material and insert into the lighting tube. Ensure the battery pack's switch is exposed for easy on/off control. Enjoy! Print Settings Printer: Flashforge Creator Pro Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 15% Notes: I made mine using ABS, though this came at the cost of some warping that had to be taken care of with sanding and filler/primer. PLA might be a better choice for future prints. Custom Section
