Aeropress Inversion Collar

Aeropress Inversion Collar

Using inverted method with Aeropress can be really simple once you get the hang of it. Snap this collar onto piston and watch how brew chamber remains securely in place during entire process. The holes make removing the collar much easier when it's time to press. Anyone who needs one but can't print one themselves just send me a message - I'd be happy to print and ship one right away, costs are machine time, labor, and postage ($15 US, $20 international). Update: You can also order this from shapeways here: http://www.shapeways.com/product/3GHRTETMJ/aero-clip. Here's how I designed this little gem: OpenSCAD to the rescue! First, measured Aeropress carefully, then designed collar that snaps on and off easily but stays firmly in place during brewing process. Holes were originally intended for material savings, but turned out to be perfect grip points when removing the collar. Both ends are identical so it doesn't matter which way you attach it - just add a snap of the collar onto piston. Also, added small flat chamfers to the corners to eliminate any sharp points. New and improved version features polygonal cutouts at tops of arches for better print quality. And if you're printing multiple at once, it makes things even easier.
