Aeron Arm Index
thingiverse
I have an old-style Aeron chair which uses springs to hold the arms firmly in their indexed positions. Newer chairs, however, employ a more advanced elastic material that compresses to provide the necessary spring force. These two components - the body and spring - bear a striking resemblance to the new style index part, but with a narrower tab near the rear, reminiscent of the old index part. Print the "body" part using PETG since the two tabs deflect in operation, requiring added strength. Print the "spring" part with a high-quality flex filament like TPU or TPE, ensuring it's solid and durable. There is no clearance between the spring and body: the spring part must be carefully inserted into place. Update 1: A notch has been added at the bottom of the "spring" part to improve functionality. More updates are forthcoming: the notchiness issue remains a concern, although the part functions adequately in its current version.
