Aerogarden Extension
thingiverse
This is an extension to elevate the Aerogarden lamp, giving plants more space to grow. The extension increases the height by about 9cm (~3.5in), still allowing for the lamp to be adjusted as needed. It's recommended to build this extension using PETG to enhance its strength and durability. Printing it with supports, small side down, ensures precision in the section that inserts into the base. *** The wire powering the lamp will need to be cut and an extension added, then soldered on. Instructions for implementing the extension follow: Removing the light tower from the Aerogarden's base involves these steps: 1) Remove the screws securing the base and open it up. 2) Unplug the two-pin connector linking the tower to the board. 3) Remove a single screw holding the tower in place from below. 4) Carefully remove the tower from the base. Electrical modifications include: 5) Cut the black and red wires connecting the tower to the board. 6) Using similar gauge wire (16 or 18 gauge), solder an additional piece of wire, longer than 10cm, to each wire. Use heatshrink to cover the soldered areas and prevent shorting. *** The wire connector will not fit through the extension; feed it through before soldering the wires together. 7) Slide the extension onto the tower section, then insert it into the base. 8) Reconnect the two-pin connector to the board. Final steps: 9) Replace the screw securing the bottom of the base. 10) Close up the base and replace all screws.
