Aero Kinetic Redirector (2017 Science Olympiad)
prusaprinters
This is a very basic air duct for use in the Hovercraft event for the 2017 division B/C Science Olympiad. It should be fully rules complaint but check dimensions before using this design. The Aero Kinetic Redirector or AKR for short (my buddy's name for it) is a no thrills 90 degree duct to allow a blower style fan to feed air into a hovercraft skirt without it making the craft top heavy. Design Project: Project Apollo ==================================================================== Printed Parts needed: 1x AKR ==================================================================== Hardware Needed: 1x http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/delta-electronics/BFB1212GH-A/603-1382-ND/2560506) Some Tape or (hot) Glue ==================================================================== Info on Installing: Butt the fan up to the part of the AKR that does not have the wing, see pictures above. Tape or glue AKR to the fan and attach as needed to the hovercraft. ==================================================================== Info on the Design: As stated above, this is just a very basic duct with a funny name. I not even sure why I am publishing it other than it might lead someone else to make a better one. I currently do not have plans to redesign this part unless it is found to be to under preforming at competition, which is doubtful. The odd shape is due to an attempt to save plastic on the print without creating an overhang to great for my old Thing-o-matic to handle. Note: At time of upload, the design has not been tested in competition and has no guarantee of performance.
