Aeration Valve
prusaprinters

Aeration Valve which can be inserted into sewage drains to prevent siphoning. This is especially relevant on boats where siphoning can flush outside water back into the ship and can lead to sinking.

When water comes in from the bottom side of the valve, the ball, which floats, will block the exit at the top and the water cannot flow through the valve.

When the water pressure dropt the ball falls down in the seat and the valve allows air to flow from the top of the valve to the bottom. This prevents siphoning.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Prusa

Printer:

I3 MK3S

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

0.15mm Quality

Infill:

50

Filament:
Prusament PET-G black

Notes:

The design consists of two parts: the valve and the ball. During printing the ball needs to be inserted into the valve. First the ball needs to be printed (and sanded if not round). Then the print of the valve needs to be paused at about 70%. The ball is inserted and the print is continued to the finish.
Standard Prusa PET-G 0.15 mm Quality profile is used. In Prusa Slicer 2 support enforcers are added. Standard Brim and 3D LAC is used to fix the valve to the build plate.

Post-Printing

Sanding of the ball

If the ball does not come out fully round.
