Aerated planter for orchids
prusaprinters

This is an aerated planter for orchids. Print all three parts. The middle part should be printed translucent since the roots need light.

Assembly

The bottom part and middle part are clamped together. Pin a thick cord in the middle of the planter so water is transported to the middle of the plant. This ensures the moisture is transported where it's needed, below the orchid.

Then add your Phalaenopsis and substrate. The top part is a bit fiddly to clamp on the middle part but it is designed to be removable. The ring can be removed in case you need to repot your orchid and avoid damaging the roots. Water from the bottom.

I typically let the plant go completely dry before I apply water again. Once a month add fertilizer.

In the github repo you can find the FreeCAD files. You can further customize the planter using the spreadsheet.

Print instructions

For the bottom part, increase the temperature to 230 and 100% infill. Just to ensure it's watertight.

Slice the files yourself. Never never ever trust random gcode from the internet.
