Adze Blade. XCB-105-3207. 400 BCE -100 CE. XCB-105 Adamagan, meaning "place of walrus hunters" in Aleut, lies at the head of Morzhovoi Bay on Alaska's western peninsula. This massive village was home to multiple occupations when it was first occupied between 400 BCE and 100 CE, making it the largest Arctic village with an estimated population of 1000 people. Additional occupations were dated from 2200-1700 BCE, 1000-600 BCE, and 900-1100 CE. Research conducted under NSF grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411 by H. Maschner, Principal Investigator, yielded Western Alaska Peninsula artifacts. These artifacts were digitized using Faro Edge Arm or Minolta Vivid 9i scanners in Geomagic or Polyworks software. 2-8 photos were applied to texture in Geomagic Wrap. Original digitization took place at the IVL at Idaho State University, while subsequent processing and publication occurred at Global Digital Heritage.
