Adze Blade XCB-003-266 XCB-003 or IZM-003 is a site thoroughly investigated by A.P. McCartney in 1971. It serves as the type-site for the Izembek Phase. A small village with a one-of-a-kind whalebone house and numerous artifacts similar to those found in the Bristol Bay region exists there. It dates back approximately 1200-1350 CE. The Alaska Peninsula artifacts are presented as a direct result of research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner is the Principal Investigator behind these studies. These artifacts were scanned using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. They were processed in Geomagic or Polyworks. A total of 2-8 photos were used for texture in Geomagic Wrap. The original digitizing work was done at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., while subsequent processing and publication were completed at Global Digital Heritage. McCartney, A.P., conducted research on Prehistoric Cultural Integration along the Alaska Peninsula. His findings were published in APUA 16(1):59-84 in 1974. Additionally, Maschner's work can be found online with a DOI of 10.1353/arc.2011.0007, and was published in Arctic Anthro on January 1, 2004, volume 41, number 2, pages 98-111.
