We propose a versatile, portable automatic ventilator that can be quickly fabricated and assembled at any location with readily available components such as valves and tubing. Our proposed design integrates a bellows mechanism with a motorized circular crank and slider to deliver efficient, rhythmic respirations in accordance with caregiver specifications. This design allows for simple air intake from the environment like standard bag-valve-mask devices or connection to a gas supply if accessible. The air delivered to patients can be optionally attached to a humidifier when available. Pressure sensors within the bellows and flow sensors in the inspiratory and expiratory pathways enable feedback control features such as pressure or volume regulation, pressure support, synchronized intermittent mandatory ventilation, and other customizable cycles.
