Advanced Scuba Reel
thingiverse
This thing is called Advanced Scuba Reel. I created it because I couldn't find the perfect reel in scuba accessories. I wanted one with a brake and lock feature. I already designed and tested the break, which works very well. Later, I will add an additional direction lock to prevent unintended turning. Later, I will also provide instructions for assembling this thing. Latest update: I added three .stp files to allow users to experiment with tolerances. Update 5 (20180723) Final Update: I am closing this engineering project now that the Advanced Scuba Reel is working. The brake works very well, and the 0.5 gaps are suitable for printing. I have decided to create a new evolution of this reel, which will be my next project. Future versions will feature a mechanism to lock reels from turning in one direction, using a spring-loaded latch. Update 4 (20180717) I added the handle with axis, the other side of the axis, and the two parts for the pressure plate. To connect the pressure plate to the system, users will need to add a metric M6 bolt. This bolt goes into the reel_gewindemutter part, which can be seen in the second picture along with all other reel components except the M6 bolt. Update 3 (20180717) I added the knob and cylinder to the files. The knob is connected via glue, after which the cylinder is attached to the knob. Update 2 (20180716) I added the reel, which will be connected using some epoxy glue. There are two versions available: one with holes for connecting a string, and users will need to print the reel sideplate twice. Update 1 (20180716) New pictures from my first make were uploaded. Unfortunately, Thingiverse reduced the pixel rate of my pictures. If someone knows how to upload better pictures, please send me instructions via private message. I will add the .stl files later as I have just made the first prints and need to improve the fits.
With this file you will be able to print Advanced Scuba Reel with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Advanced Scuba Reel.
