The 2016 robot of FIRST FRC Team 1678 Citrus Circuits, named Adrian, competed in the FIRST Stronghold with a West Coast Drivetrain-supported utility arm boasting an elevator, shooter, and intake. The design offered infinite movement flexibility, shot angles, and low bar proficiency. Comprising three custom gearboxes, diverse control loops, custom wiring, and more, Adrian was the team's most complex machine to date. Their success led them to win Central Valley, Sacramento, and Silicon Valley Regionals before becoming Hopper Sub-Division Champions at FIRST Championship, also qualifying as 2016 FRC World Championship Semi-Finalists. As an international organization founded by Dean Kamen, FIRST Robotics promotes hands-on, mentor-based STEM education via yearly robotics competitions. FRC is a competition for high school students (grades 9-12) that focuses on a January-released robotics challenge and encourages community outreach and education. More information can be found at www.firstinspires.org. A STEP file and selected renderings of Adrian are available.
