Gial Ackbar was a seasoned Mon Calamari warrior and revolutionary leader who served for sixty years during the Clone Wars, the Galactic Civil War, and the conflict between the Resistance and the First Order. He was renowned throughout his military career as an exceptional tactician. Ackbar commanded the Mon Calamari Guard during the Clone Wars and played a key role in the Battle of Mon Cala, where he helped secure Prince Lee-Char's ascension to King of Mon Cala and repelled the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Following the rise of the Galactic Empire, Ackbar emerged as the top military leader in the Alliance to Restore the Republic, becoming a powerful symbol of resistance against the Empire's oppression of non-human species. Ackbar's presence attracted significant support from the Mon Calamari for the Alliance, resulting in the provision of Mon Calamari star cruisers that formed the majority of the Alliance Fleet.
