The architects behind notable works are Adler & Sullivan, with their active years falling between 1883 and 1895. Louis H. Sullivan, a renowned designer also from America, lived from 1856 to 1924. A significant piece designed by them is the Auditorium Building Column Capital, created from 1887-89. It's a painted wood structure measuring 25.5 x 42 x 15 cm. The Art Institute of Chicago received this as a gift from Crombie Taylor in 1970, bearing the inventory number 1970.1197. It can be found in the Architecture and Design section of Gallery 200.
