This adjustable seat design is crafted to fit seamlessly with your kayak's existing anchors. While the appearance may be dark, time was spent on developing a functional mechanical solution rather than focusing on aesthetics. The most expensive component is stainless steel tubing, which could potentially be replaced by zinc-coated steel. The four bent and straight tubes are identical, making assembly easy. The seat's compatibility with various kayak body shapes is a highlight, allowing for numerous combinations to achieve the perfect fit. Animated pictures demonstrate its ability to adjust to shoulder positions effortlessly. The only part requiring customization is the area touching the kayak near the twin adjusting screws. Compatibility with a sprayskirt is ensured without causing damage to the skirt. Ergonomics and consumer comfort were prioritized in the design. The seat and backrest are crafted from rotomolded PEHD, providing a comfortable seating experience. A customizable fabric cover made of foam or silicon gel can be added for extra cushioning. The backrest is positioned by a spring mechanism with limited backward bending, ensuring comfort. The strength of the seat is optimized through incremental tuning of the tubing structure, allowing adjustments to elevation and inclination. The steel structure can support up to 100kg, as demonstrated in FEM post-treatment images. Upper screws regulate tube inclination and tension, creating a local clamp with appropriate friction coefficients. The seat weighs 2.95 kg and is made from rotomolded PEHD for the seat and backrest, with stainless steel 316L tubes (or equivalent like zinc-coated steel) included in the process.
