Adjustable Spool Mount for 4mm Aluminum or Box Frame
thingiverse
When my trusty old filament spool mount shattered into pieces, I decided to take matters into my own hands and design a brand new filament spool mount for my reliable printers: the Prusa i3 Box Frame and an aluminum powerhouse. This cutting-edge mount was designed to screw/bolt securely onto a sturdy plate. This setup works beautifully with the box frame, but if you're using the aluminum frame, be sure to install a solid plate at the top of the frame (or in close proximity).\nThe .scad files included here are a diverse mix of both parametric and nonparametric designs. The Adjustable Spool Mount file is fully parametric and allows for effortless customization, giving you complete control over bar thickness, wall thickness, height, number of holes for convenient extension purposes, screw sizes, and more! The aluminum frame mount employs an M5 threaded rod, while the box frame mount uses a smooth M8 rod. Also included in this versatile design is a handy variable for printer error - a feature I'm particularly proud of, and which I plan to integrate into future designs as well. This ingenious feature introduces a deliberate gap wherever two parts are closely situated. Simply adjust the error value to a specified amount, say 1mm, to see the exact effect in action.\nComments are highly encouraged!
