Another spool holder is born! Who needs pre-existing designs when you can design your own? This one's got something special - knobs that don't require a screwdriver for width adjustment. Designed to accommodate spools of various sizes (Printrbot 1.1 and 2.2lbs, Seacans, and Filaments.ca). It utilizes easily sourced 608 bearings (skateboard bearings) and a mere $5 worth of metric nuts and bolts. **Hardware:** Four 608 Skateboard Bearings Four 20mm M8 Hex Bolts (Cap style can be used instead) Four M8 Hex Nuts Four 20mm M5 Hex Bolts (Must be hex head, not cap head) Four M5 split ring washers **Tools:** A hammer for gently coaxing M5 bolts into the printed knobs. Fingers or needle-nose pliers - no wrenches needed! **Printer Settings:** These are what worked on my Printrbot Simple Metal: 0.4mm Layer Height 15% Honeycomb Infill 2 Perimeters 2 Top/Bottom Layers Check out this sweet assembly animation: http://youtu.be/IV3c_0B5Mo4. The only tricky part? Getting those knobs onto the M5 bolts. Designed with minimal tolerances, I simply encouraged each bolt into its respective knob with a hammer (repeated GENTLY!). Took it out three times for each one to get that perfect fit. Then, with a snug fit, I pushed the knob down using only my fingers. **Instructions:** 1. Prep the knobs by repeating the process of gently tapping M5 bolts in with a hammer until they're securely seated. 2. Align one side piece and one slot bar, then add a split washer to 1 M5 bolt, an M5 nut into the slot bar, thread in the bolt, and hand-tighten. 3. Repeat for the other side bar and install nuts as before. 4. Side panels are now securely attached. Hand-tighten M8 bolts until just snug. Last but not least - attach knobs to M5 nuts, install bearings onto M8 bolts with hand-tightened M8 nuts. All done! Keep an eye out for my upcoming assembly animation if you need visual confirmation!
