Adjustable Sew-On Elastic Buckle for Face Masks - v1
thingiverse
This is an adjustable buckle for cloth face masks or other flexible materials, enabling users to customize the length of elastic connections. The primary objective was to create a design that allows elastic to be passed over the head and behind the neck while maintaining adjustability. Two components are required: one for the top band and one for the bottom band. Printing in PETG is recommended due to its flexibility and toughness, ensuring optimal performance. If a small gap forms during fusing, it can be easily separated using a razor blade. Similarly, if the holes become too narrow, they can be widened with a needle used as an awl. The design accommodates various elastic widths by scaling up or down; however, keep in mind that narrower elastic may require adjusting the hole shape to ellipses. Nevertheless, maintaining tight stitching will minimize any impact on performance. To achieve optimal results, print at 0.2mm layers with a 0.4mm nozzle, and ensure your printer is properly calibrated. Printing one buckle takes approximately five minutes.
