I've designed a 3D printable phone stand that rotates smoothly, allowing it to function in both horizontal and vertical positions. The stand can rotate up to 90 degrees before your phone falls off horizontally, and approximately 40 degrees before it falls off vertically. To secure the knob in place, simply heat-fit an M6 nut onto it. For the pivot point, use a sturdy M6 x 35 bolt that provides sufficient stability for smooth rotation.
