Adjustable Laser Rotary Attachment
thingiverse
I started to design and build this attachment last year at the beginning of the pandemic as a project to use my experience in 3D printing and desire to learn Fusion 360 CAD design. Unfortunately, it's taken over a year to complete it and get it posted. If there is interest I will be glad to share many of the other stl files I have designed for it as well as the Fusion 360 files for those who may be interested in further developing this design. I found several Laser Rotary attachment possibilities, but nothing that suited the range of Z-axis possibilities at the price point I was looking for. I wanted to be able to adjust the height of both front and back as well as make the rear wheels adjustable for width to accomodate more that the standard spacing would allow, but I wanted it to be simple, not over-complicated like many of the somewhat adjustable models available. I wanted simplicity, full adjustability, and a locking rail & carriage system such as the one found here: https://www.mcmaster.com/guide-rails/locking-extra-wide-sleeve-bearing-carriages-and-guide-rails/ I have designed all of these parts in Fusion 360 and will share the files for others to modify if there is interest. I have 3D printed the plates at 100%, but have better performance with Acrylic plates plates cut from laser or Aluminum plates cut on a CNC. The motors are NEMA17 wired in series to match steps using a std configuration 4-pin connector to connect directly to the stepper driver in the laser cutter. This unit has been tested only slightly and is currently a build in process but will be posting more pictures soon
