Adjustable Heavy Duty Filament Spool

Adjustable Heavy Duty Filament Spool

This is an adjustable version of the Heavy Duty printable filament holder. The filament spool must fit exactly on the hooks; any smaller or larger than the small or large settings makes it impossible to place a medium-sized PLA spool (PLA is springy and resistant to shape changes) on it. Although I liked its design, I felt it needed improvement. To use this holder, print three arms, one hub, and three hooks. The arms may need some fine adjustments to fit into the corresponding dovetails in the hub. There's 0.25mm clearance between the parts, although it remains unconfirmed if that's sufficient. It requires a large print bed (minimum 150mm in one dimension) to print. To attach the hooks to the arms, use six 8-32 or M4 screws, at least 25mm long, at your desired diameter (the holes may need slight drilling). Lastly, mount a 608ZZ bearing on your preferred mounting system. I used the Thingiverse designs for struts and dowls with measurements of 10.5in (265mm) and 8.5in (215mm), and width can be varied but I used 6in (150mm). It works great!
