Major Update 7/26/19 for Improved Fit with Adjustable 4 Finger Snap Talon Options. Also, a single size batten file measures 150mm. To determine the correct size, measure from the inside elbow bend to the wrist on the residual arm. The three surrounding battens will be this length. Add another 50mm to the fourth batten (mounting the pawl and ratchet assembly) and adjust as needed for a natural pivot point at the elbow. UPDATE 4/19: I realized my occasional lack of brainpower led to issues with Elbow Pawl, Small Wrist, and Elbow Links. These have now been improved! UPDATE 4/17: More leverage was needed for finger movement, so I modified the Elbow Pawl and Elbow Links. Updates will continue as needed; all feedback is appreciated. These design files form part of the E-Talon and Snap Talon prostheses series. They connect via a 1/2" nut and bolt to either a terminal device or forearm to bicep attachment. A mesh cloth sleeve and grommets provide an adjustable fit by turning the ratchet to tighten or loosen as needed; quick on, quick off. If amputation is too short for adequate support, an inexpensive shoulder or elbow harness can be added. If wrist flexibility is a concern, the standard thermoformed wrist gauntlet can be used. For an elbow-actuated arm, size the mesh gauntlet from wrist to almost elbow. The pawl mount ball end must align with the elbow pivot point for proper function. Empty space between amputation and wrist should be filled with stackable space savers and a final spacer cushion. An elbow-actuated forearm gauntlet will require an elbow brace or strap to hold the pivoting, snap-on bicep tendon mount.
