Adjustable Foot Adapter for Shelving Unit
thingiverse

Have a couple of shelving units in my garage which has an uneven floor. Found some adjustable levelling feet at the local hardware store, so made these adapters for them.

Strongly suggest you put horizontal members just above the adapters secured with safety clips (see pics) in case a 3d printed adapter gives up the ghost. That way it should fail relatively safely and give you a bit of a warning.

Part references: (Australia)
- Shelving unit (or equivalent) from Bunnings I/N 2760459. - Levelling feet are also from Bunnings I/N 0078251 ... can be longer but need an M10 thread (or just use an M10 hex screw and nut but put something under the head or you'll scratch the floor).

There are subtle variations in the size and pitch of the key-holes, that's why there are two versions of the safety clip. Print one of each first to see which one fits properly, before printing the rest (needs eight in total per shelf). The holes inside the bosses have different shapes so you can tell them apart.

Printed from Prusa PLA+ and they've been good for a couple of weeks now with about 50kg total on the shelves, but please build 'em solid (see Print Settings). Don't overload them, and please use the safety clips. Would also suggest you keep them out of direct sunlight to stop them heating up and potentially softening.

Ensure the horizontal members are properly seated (mallet helps) and the keyholes are clear of excess powder coating (clean out with a rats tail file if needed). The L-shaped uprights vary in size, so the pocket is oversized, meaning the adapters can slip off the ends if you lift the shelving unit up.

Use a spirit level to get the shelves level; that's where the commercial feet are much better than the screws.

Check out more designs from Department_Nine!
