Adjustable / Extendable Filament Spool Stand - Flashforge Creator Pro additions
thingiverse
I stumbled upon a nifty filament holder on Thingiverse that really caught my eye, but I thought it would be even cooler if you could resize it to fit different spool widths. So, I took matters into my own hands and designed one that lets you use three bridge parts to set the width of the holder as needed. I also added some holes to these bridges so you can get creative with custom addons. My first foray was making "hooks" that let me hang the holder from the top of my printer - it works surprisingly well, but when printing large pieces that take up most of the print plate, it can become a bit problematic due to the uncoiling filament. However, for smaller projects, it does its job quite effectively. I'm thinking about designing an alternate addon where the holder sits on the table and feeds the filament upward into the printer, which might help with bigger prints. All you really need is four 8x22x7 ball bearings that simply snap right into place. You can get them from this Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PI3ELZY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Feel free to dive in and play with the Freecad source code - I'd love to see what remixes you come up with.
