Adjustable 8mm linear bearing

Adjustable 8mm linear bearing

I designed a linear bearing concept that is adjustable and suits an 8 mm OD linear rail perfectly. My old original Mendel machine had issues with the 8mm smooth rods, which were not of good quality and had poor diameter tolerance to begin with. After two years of use, the standard LMU8's became noisy and loose, prompting me to design a new bearing. I printed this bearing using Esun's PLA + filament because it is as easy to print as regular PLA but has characteristics similar to ABS that make it suitable for this application. To reduce friction, I am using WD40's PTFE "dry lube" spray, which can be found at http://wd40specialist.com/products/dry-lube/. If you are looking for Y axis bearing holders to suit a 16mm OD linear rail, you can find them here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1435072
