The user created a replacement for the bottom half of the stock metal gantry so that it would reuse the top metal half, wheels/spacers/bolts/nuts, and belt mounting screws (screw holes). The new part presents "standard" NEMA17 mounting holes that can be used instead of having to work around non-standard stock mounting points. The user utilized a clone trianglelab BMG and Volcano for this project. It is recommended to print with lots of perimeters and 40%+ infill, as the weight of your extruder stepper will rest on it. This requires the part to be strong. To install the new part, disassemble the carriage while keeping the belt mounting screws in place. Then use each wheel bolt and nut, along with a longer plastic spacer and wheel, to attach them. The printed part comes equipped with shorter plastic spacers for each hole, making it easier to line up the wheel and spacer. Hand-tighten the wheel bolts before installing a slim M5 nut into the pocket behind the third wheel. Hold the assembly so that the front two wheels are forced into their track flat, then use an M5 bolt of any length to press the back wheel into its normal track. After that, tighten the wheel bolts as usual until they "lock" in place. The new part requires a slim M5 nut to be placed in the pocket behind the third wheel. This is necessary for pressing the wheel into its normal track using an additional M5 bolt of any length. Without this added force, the wheel will not mount correctly. Users may opt to use something else like a thin M4 nut and bolt instead, but this will not work without the added force from the M5 bolt.
