This ultra heavy-duty adhesive tape dispenser gets its significant weight from a 1kg lead block situated within its core. I acquired the lead on eBay as an accessory for diving. The body is constructed from 8 layers of plywood. Using a desktop CNC machine manufactured by Stepcraft, I worked with 6mm birch plywood. The tape is secured by an aluminum tube that I cut to the precise length. It would be visually appealing if the tube were replaced by a complete aluminum or perhaps a brass rod. I obtained the knife from Opitec, a German craft store, and inserted it into a thin slot that was sawn with a small hacksaw after gluing the inner components together. To prevent the tape dispenser from slipping, I experimented with funky foam but ultimately chose a thin mousepad, which I cut to size and secured using double-sided adhesive tape. Then, I separated the parts and nested them as closely as possible to minimize material usage. When placing the components, I took into account the direction of the grain so that adjacent parts exhibited alternating 'colors'.
