Additional support for 1.25 inch vacuum cleaner telescopic tube
thingiverse
My vacuum cleaner boasts a fantastic telescopic extension tube with a diameter of 1.25 inches, and I'm absolutely thrilled with this feature - it lets me extend the tube to an optimal length that enables me to vacuum standing upright without any strain. Unfortunately, over time the spring mechanism that secures the telescopic tube in place by pressing into tiny notches spaced about one inch apart has worn out. As a result, when I apply a bit more pressure during vacuuming, the mechanism gives way and the two tubes slide into each other. The good news is that these parts can be easily tightened or loosened by hand using my trusty M3 screw knob (available here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4287024). The lower part has two grooves specifically designed to accommodate M3 square nuts, while for the screwing knob I highly recommend using M3x20 screws with a hex head. Once screwed together, the parts fit snugly onto the pipe, preventing the inner tube from slipping into the outer tube. For storage, simply loosen the screw knobs slightly and slide the mechanism towards the end of the tube - where it won't fall off due to the wider diameter that accommodates the hose. I hope this helpful tip will also enable you to fix your vacuum cleaner and reduce your environmental impact by using it for another decade before needing a new one. Happy printing!
