Add ons for M5 phalanx
thingiverse
These are (hopefully) helpful additions to OddWorks' M5 phalanx pistol from Mass Effect. When I created my print of OddWorks M5 phalanx, two issues arose. First, the structures at the top rear behind the magazine detached from the rest of the left and right assemblies into several pieces and were difficult to reassemble. I decided to reprint these parts separately after separating them from the main assembly. It made sense to make them one piece instead of gluing the sides together. I refer to this as the hammer group. Two versions are included, one with extra material that requires removal but creates a flat side, and the other is minimalist but necessitates some supports. The second issue was creating the M5 logo on the side. I obtained the correct font (Slider), created a graphic, and printed it out. However, while attempting to make a stencil from the paper print, I realized that I could simply 3D print a stencil. So I did. Both sides are included as one file and separately in two versions: 0.6mm thick and easily scalable up or down without changing X or Y dimensions using Cura or Simplify3D. With these additions, I hope to make this already easy-to-print Mass Effect prop even simpler to create. To print this prop, you will also need all the files from OddWorks' M5 Phalanx that I remixed from. As long as your print bed is large enough, OddWorks' version is a straightforward print.
