Create a 1-meter Lego-compatible bar extension using 8mm rods, interface with LEGO NXT. Utilize an NXT servo to move a nut along the rod via its 8mm thread. Attach a gray code rotary encoder (http://shop.lego.com/ByCategory/Product.aspx?p=9842&cn=389&d=292) for motor functionality. Customize the design with xxxx_wrk.odg if needed. To assemble, cut and glue the parts carefully. Stack between a paper sheet and a clamp, ensuring pressure near the centering cross. Once dry, remove clamp and paper. Attach two nuts securely to one rod end. Insert the nut-adorned bar into the lego bars' holes for setup completion. Enjoy your Lego NXT integration with real-world 8mm threaded rods! Future plans include designing a smaller 3D derivative once a Mendel printer is completed (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6260).
