Adapter to press small tin cans
thingiverse
What? ----- Adapter/Spacer to press small (~80g cat food) tin cans with "GRAX" presses. Why? ---- We feed our cats only quality food which happen to come in small tin cans. This amounts to ~12-15 cans a day. Therefore I own a "GRAX" tin can press, which is an amazing tool and really gets the job done. The "GRAX" is designed to deal with anything up to 800g-cans, but compacting the small ones (~80g) is a little bit finnacky, because they must be placed manually ca. 2cm from the endstop and then be hold there. And since putting fingers in working presses is allways a dumb idea, I needed some sort of Adapter/Spacer. How? ---- The first iteration was simply a 20mm strip which was hold by magnets. But - because of the way this press works - the strip was always lifted up at the front and jammed the mechanics. So this version has two "claws" at the front and one V-shaped peg at the backside to hold it in place. This particular one in the photo has already been 6 months in service and only shows limited wear. Bonus feature: Removing the adapter afterwards scrapes any residue from the press' anvil! Just clean it with warm water. Notes ----- 1. I printed it with the hooks pointing *upward* with support. 2. Removing the support and hand-fitting the claws and peg were done using a small rasp resp. file.
