Adapter making effective OXO Olive pitter
thingiverse
The product OXO Cherry/Olive pitter is missing half its functionality. Purchased on Amazon.ie, it performs well with cherries, but fails to pit olives due to a flawed design. When pressing against the olive's convex surface over a 3D circle, the device applies excessive force, causing any type of olive to burst towards the nut. Cherries work because they have a robust skin and soft pulp that absorb pressure before the crosshead pushes out the nut. To resolve this issue, the surface area in contact with the olive must be increased, allowing for a more even distribution of pressure. Ideally, the design should have been addressed during the initial stages of development. I've attached an adapter prototype to provide a potential solution. This design will be updated once it's printed and refined.
