Adam and Eve: Eve
myminifactory
The forebears statue was a key element of Bandinelli's extensive sculptural project for the Florentine Duomo choir stalls, which began in 1542. By 1551, the figures were fully completed and separated from the Tree of Wisdom in wood and stucco, but unfortunately, both the tree and the original base were destroyed in a devastating flood in 1966. In 1722, due to public outcry over the nudity of the figures, which was deemed obscene, the group was taken down from the choir stalls. Initially relocated to the Uffizi, it later found its way to the Bargello. You can also download the matching Adam statue here.
