Theodolinda or Theodelinda (570-627) ruled as queen of the Lombards and Italy from 589 until her departure in 616. Taking charge again from 616 to 624, she served as regent for her son Adaloald during this period. However, Adaloald eventually succumbed to madness, resulting in his loss of authority.
