Adafruit Trinket Project Box (Skate Lights)
thingiverse
This is a custom-designed enclosure made by me that holds an 9v battery, a switch, and a 5v Adafruit Trinket (capable of handling up to 16v). The goal was to attach it to the back of my daughter's inline skates so I could power a strip of WS2812B RGB LEDs mounted around the boot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MY-OQ98lgpI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLh1gy-v0jo The code for the Trinket was written by me, but all light patterns were inspired by this brilliant post: https://www.tweaking4all.com/hardware/arduino/adruino-led-strip-effects/ These skates have a 4mm hole in the back of the cuff which I used to attach the enclosure to the skate. Here are the parts I used: Trinket mounting screws: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01M9EEF8H/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Lid Bolts: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00DYU5JJA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Nuts: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00GP03OE8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Spring washers: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01N3C589R/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Box Mounting Bolts: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00AALPKLI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Nuts: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00A6G5H0G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Nylocs: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00B3RILFU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Spring washers: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00A6QAA5S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Flat washers: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00A6PILR8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 LED strips: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01CDTEIQW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 LED mounting Mounts: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00O7P8RQS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Zip ties: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00904S2T8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Switch: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Terminals-SPDT-Position-Toggle-Switches/dp/B01DEM2QNY/ref=pd_rhf_gw_p_img_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=7AGBY4WKJG8GY1GK7Z9A I believe that covers everything. The enclosure could be used for any Trinket project, though the mounting bracket was designed specifically with my daughter's skates in mind. I also put a strip of sticky back foam on the underside of the lid to hold the battery in place as it does have some room to move. The box lid is a bit over-engineered... snap fit might have been good or even replacing the bottom bolt for a tab and slot system, but hey.
