Adafruit Huzzah ESP8266 with 3.5" TFT Featherwing table top case

I bought a ESP8266 Huzzah Feather and 3.5" LCD Featherwing from Adafruit and wanted a table top case to put them in. I designed the case just big enough so that the displayable area of the LCD is centered in the bezel. The top and bottom are also symmetrical so I can use the case with the cord on either the left or right and adjust the screen rotation in software. This is a challenging print, I printed it with the back on the bed and the bezel face up and 0.1mm layer height is needed given the gentle slope of the bezel and to realize usable screw threads in the 8 holes. Because of the 0.1mm layer height I had to add an extra layer gap between the top of the support and the bottom of the model or else the support couldn't be removed cleanly. But I'm thrilled with the result. The 0.1mm layer height is needed for the M3 screw threads and the finish on the front bezel. I printed it with the bezel facing up which also means the screw holes are vertical. With the 0.1mm layer height it can be tricky to print the support so it can be removed without destroying the print - I had to add an extra layer between the top of the support and the model. To hold it down to the bed I used a wide 2 layer brim. The LCD is attached to the case with 4 M3x6mm hex cap screws and another 4 M3x6mm screws attach the back. A ball nose 2.5mm hex wrench is needed to tighten the screws that attach the LCD to the case since the wrench needs to go in at an angle to the screws. Category: Electronics
