The Ultimaker temperature sensor (version 1) is based on the AD597 and amplifies the signal from a type K thermocouple, having similar mV/K output to the popular AD595 board used in many RepRap projects. It's approximately thumbnail-sized, with an SOT-8 amp chip and extra-small screw terminals (2.54 mm pitch). Designed in Eagle CAD by Siert Wijnia and the author, the files are available on the RepRap wiki: http://www.reprap.org/wiki/File:Thermocouple_board_v0.4.sch and http://www.reprap.org/wiki/File:Thermocouple_board_v0.4.brd. The sensor board comes with a bright blue LED, perfect for long exposure photography of prints in moving head machines. A prototype was made in collaboration with Jelle, designer of the UltiRouter (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7110). Separate sensor boards will be available within a month or two, and PCBs can be ordered in quantities of 20 or more upon request. Improvements for the next release include adding a ground plane and providing pads on the other side for terminal or header mounting flexibility.
