Acyl-Acyl Carrier Protein (PDB 2FAE)

Recently, I successfully printed a model featuring the Escherichia coli decanoyl-Acyl Carrier Protein structure. This model is based on the crystal structure and PDB file 2FAE. The print process took approximately 5 hours and doesn't require supports as they are already built into the design, making removal a breeze with a needle nose plier and hobby knife. Printing was done on a Makerbot Replicator 2 at medium quality. To create this model, the original pdb file (2FAE) was manipulated to include only the single monomer without water molecules, then imported into VMD for backbone cartoon manipulation and CPK display of the cofactor and sidechain. The model was later segmented and aligned in Tinkercad due to file size limitations before being grouped and aligned again with manual support features added at the bottom, all designed for easy removal. After spending considerable time on this protein model, I am now ready to tackle a larger, more complex project.
